What is VoLTE (Voice over LTE / 4G) with Proper Definition and Brief Explanation
VoLTE, as is clear from the name itself, is the voice over LTE / 4G network. It allows users to stay connected with the 4G network while making voice calls instead of 3G. If VoLTE is not enabled, the mobiles will connect to the 4G network for data use and each time a voice call is dialed, it will return to the 3G network. However, in VoLTE, you will stay connected to the 4G network and initiate a VoLTE call, which is basically through an integrated SIP client with the same phone dialer as the mobile device.
Voice runs on reserved 4G bandwidth in addition to your normal data browsing. Also, there are currently no additional data charges for VoLTE calls or it will not be deducted from your mobile data allowance for voice calls. VoLTE voice calls will normally be charged according to your mobile plan or contract with the same rates.
What are the advantages of VoLTE? VoLTE (Voice over LTE / 4G)
High-quality voice: In VoLTE, for streaming media, high-quality HD voice codecs are used to carry RTP, thus increasing the voice quality end-to-end if the receiver is also connected to the network VoLTE. Most broadband CODECs like AMR-WB are used in VoLTE to transmit HD voice.
If the call crosses the IMS network, it loses HD quality due to TDM breakdown for 3G, 2G and PSTN connections. Usually you only experience HD quality on voice calls between VoLTE enabled 4G phones, IMS network VoIP phones (Broadband VoIP phones), any IP phone connected to the operators IMS network through different technologies .
Short call setup time: When using VoLTE to make a call, as soon as you dial or select the number from the address book and press to make a call, the call will immediately be set up and you will hear the ringtone. In some networks, the ringtone may be different compared to normal calls, as it rings from your phone.
Batter Usage Increase: If you started using VoLTE, its power consumption is optimized to provide better performance, so the battery life will be extended compared to normal operation mode. Since 3G is not responding for voice calls and all voice calls are no longer used, including data usage over the 4G connection, additional battery consumption is avoided.
