Often many people confuse terms that have a certain similarity or share some relationship, among these are concepts such as “traditional” and “conventional” ; which are usually used interchangeably, ignoring that they are different things. Difference b/w Conventional and Traditional

If you are interested in knowing what is the difference between conventional and traditional, read on and find out.

CONVENTIONAL Difference b/w Conventional and Traditional

Conventionality refers to actions that people carry out in common. Said actions are carried out in that way because at a certain moment the individuals reached a consensus.

Over time a convention can become a tradition. Likewise, when a tradition requires that certain specific steps be followed, it can be said that it is something conventional.

Some things are conventions in certain countries, while in others they are traditions. For example, Halloween is a tradition in the United States; but a convention in some Latin American countries. On the other hand, something purely traditional is the fact that brides in India wear red on their wedding day; while a typical example of a convention can be seen in the fact that most educational institutions administer examinations or tests to students.

A person with a conventional mindset is one who always agrees with the majority, that is, with the general public.

TRADITIONAL

Actions taken because they have been learned from generation to generation are traditional. Traditions are passed on to new generations that belong to certain social groups or families.

Traditions often vary greatly depending on culture, society, and family.

As for the mentality of traditional people, they, contrary to the conventional ones, will not only agree with the majority; rather, they will practice what they have been taught since they were little. Although most think differently, those who follow a tradition will not put it aside and will fulfill what they have learned from their ancestors.

For example, a conventional person would agree that women work and help the family, however, a traditionally minded person would suggest that women should take care of the home and let men take care of providing material goods .
