DIPLOID CELLS What is the Difference b/w Haploid and Diploid Cell
Diploid cells are those that contain two sets of identical chromosomes. They are cells that reproduce by mitosis and their daughter cells are exact replicas.
Some examples of diploid cells are found in: skin, blood, and muscle cells.
HAPLOID
Unlike diploid cells, haploid cells only have half of the total number of chromosomes, that is, they only contain one set of chromosomes and not two as in the previous case.
Likewise, they do not usually reproduce by mitosis, but by meiosis (although haploid cell mitosis could be the case: the chromosomes of a haploid stem cell are divided or duplicated exactly in the daughter cells). When one haploid cell fertilizes another, then we are talking about the reproduction of the haploid cells.
Some examples of haploid cells (and that by the way, are used especially in the process of sexual reproduction) are: sperm and ovaries.
