CHORIZO  Difference Between Ham and Chorizo

Chorizo ​​can be eaten in a variety of ways, whether it is smoked, boiled, fried, grilled, or baked. The type of chorizo ​​depends on the part of the pork from which the cut is derived and also on its thickness.

Generally this cut of meat is extracted from the loin or belly of the pig. Likewise, chorizo ​​can be cured dry when exposed to cold air, smoke, or salt; as well as it can be cured fresh or wet when immersed in liquid brine.

The chorizo ​​that is extracted from the pork loin is the one with the least fat, while the striped chorizo ​​(which is taken from the pork belly) has much more fat.

It is commonly eaten sliced ​​and placed on sandwiches, pizza, or with eggs and toast for breakfast.

On the other hand, the ham is cured or cooked fresh. All types of ham are derived from the thighs or rump of pigs, what varies is the process of how it is cured; which is different depending on the country.

The ham can be served fresh or cooked. In some cases it can be served wet or dry, even with honey and sugar.

Finally, this food is generally cut into slices and put on sandwiches, pizza, and salads. In some countries, ham is prepared for special occasions such as Christmas. In the latter case, a whole leg of ham is taken; which is studded with cloves and covered with a layer of sugared maple and baked before slicing.
