Difference Between Theory and Practice with Proper Definition and Brief Explanation

Theory vs practice

You know that you must not only forgive those who have sinned against you, but you must also be reconciling to them. It is all very well to preach these concepts, but you know how difficult it is to endure a person who has hurt or insulted us in the past. In our classrooms, we learn many theories in science and economics but, in real life, we find that many of these theories do not contain water. This is due to assumptions that do not exist in real life. The study plans in our educational system are designed in such a way that they contain a theoretical and practical part. This is deliberately done to allow for a deeper understanding of the concepts. Let’s take a closer look at the differences between theory and practice.

Theory

There are two ways to make a student learn and understand a concept. One is the abstract way in which the subject is taught in the form of text and images and it seeks to clarify the students through lectures in the classroom given by teachers. Our textbooks in schools are the backbone of this system of theory. It is believed that most of our learning comes from this theoretical system of education. The properties of objects and matter and the way they interact with each other are written and described in categories for students to better understand. Topics like history can always be presented in theory or text form, as there is no way to turn them into practice, although today there are visual aids that can be used for students to view history and geography. However, natural phenomena, their reasons, causes, and correlations are always sought to be presented in text form so that students retain them for an extended period of time. Of course, a medical student can understand a disease in a much better way when he is shown to a person suffering from a disease, but still he is made to learn the symptoms in a theoretical way so that he can better diagnose between two similar diseases. .

Practice

In all education systems, there is a practice-based teaching methodology. This is a part of education that is best described through vocational courses, certificates, and diplomas that people earn in the hairdressing, plumbing, carpentry, cooking, electronics, air conditioning, etc. professions. In most of these professions, there is a theoretical part. Which tries to present the subject in capsule form. However, this theory is used by students to write on exams and get good grades, while the practice is a first-hand experience of what they are supposed to do in real life after leaving their classes. A lawyer can go through many classes based on theory but, in real life, when he begins his practice,

What is the difference between theory and practice?

• It is very easy to explain the concepts of thirst, pain and sadness in theory, but the person realizes the difference only when they experience these experiences in real life.

• In theory, many assumptions are made to explain the phenomenon and concepts, while in real life, there are no assumptions and the conditions are always unique

• Most subjects consist of a theoretical and practical part, but there are some courses that are vocational in nature and must be taught through first-hand practice.

• However, even medical students have to learn disease theories and symptoms when they can be fully taught through practice.

• The dichotomy of theory and practice will remain, as these two form the backbone of all learning procedures.
