Training vs Learning

Training and learning are concepts that are closely related to each other. They are often misunderstood to be the same, and some misuse these terms interchangeably. While learning and training result in an individual acquiring knowledge and skills, the way in which knowledge and skills are obtained are quite different. Training may involve having a structured training program with the required outcomes, while learning has no such restrictions. The following article provides a complete explanation of each term and shows the similarities and differences between the two.

Training

Training is where an individual will be molded into a desired state. When training an individual, the desired result of the individual will be established first-hand. Once this is done, the training program will be catered to meet these specific needs. Corporations generally have training programs to teach workers how things are done within an organization and to maintain a sense of uniformity. This can be advantageous in jobs that require very specific procedures; however, on the other hand, the training is considered quite restrictive. Training may let the person know only what is required and expected of him, but it may not help him think outside the box.

Learning

Learning is the process of a person actively participating in some activity in which the individual is inspired to acquire skills and knowledge through doing things for themselves. The experience of doing things greatly influences a person’s learning, as there are a number of things that are learned through experience that cannot be taught otherwise. Learning is related to the concepts of thinking, understanding, exploration, experimentation, creativity, curiosity, education, development and growth. When a person learns how things are done, they not only acquire knowledge and skills, but also find new ways of doing things using their own personal creativity and understanding.

Training vs Learning

Corporations, universities, and other knowledge-sharing institutions stress the importance of learning about training. This is because the training is quite restrictive in nature and the individual will only be trained according to what the corporation, university or any other institution perceives as the result to be achieved. Learning can be beneficial in many ways as it helps an individual understand, experiment and experience things that can be most effective when it comes to problems and problems. However, training can be very useful when a company needs to teach its employees a structured procedure or process. Nevertheless,
