Left and right ventricle function in tabular form

left and right ventricle function in tabular form The human heart pumps blood throughout the body through the circulatory system that supplies nutrients and oxygen to tissues and removes carbon dioxide and other wastes. The anatomy of the human heart consists of four chambers:

  • Right and left atrium
  • Right and left ventricle
The right and left ventricle make up the lower chambers of the heart. Although both the left and right ventricles belong to the lower chambers, they both differ in their functionalities.

For its part, the right ventricle receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium and pumps it to the pulmonary artery. Instead, the left ventricle receives oxygen-rich blood from the left atrium and pumps it into the aorta.

Now let’s look at the difference between left and right ventricle shown in the tabular column below.

Right ventricle vs left ventricle left and right ventricle function in tabular form

Below we show you a comparative table so that you can observe all the distinctions between these parts of the heart organ.

Right ventricle Left ventricle
Receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium Receives oxygen-rich blood from the left atrium
Comprises a thin wall Comprise a thick wall
Pumps the received blood to the lungs through the pulmonary trunk It pumps the received blood throughout the body through the aorta.
The cavity is shaped like a half moon. The cavity is circular in shape.
Develops a lower pressure than the left ventricle while pumping blood Develops increased pressure while pumping blood
Triangular in shape and close to the apex of the heart. Oval in shape and forms the apex of the heart

The left and right ventricles collectively form the apex of the heart. Since the wall of the left ventricle is thicker than that of the right ventricle, the left ventricle pumps blood with high pressure. The main difference between the right and left ventricle is the pressure of the blood pumped by each ventricle.
