Difference between a square and a rhombus/Tabular form

The main difference between a square and a rhombus are their angles. The square has all its angles of 90 degrees and the rhombus only two. That is, the square has all its congruent (equal) sides and the rhombus has two. Look at the following image.

Definition of square and rhombus square and a rhombus/Tabular form

Square: A square is a four-sided polygon that has all its sides congruent in length and all angles equal to 90 degrees. The length of the diagonals is also the same.

Rhombus: A rhombus is also a four-sided polygon, which has all sides the same length. The opposite angles of a rhombus are congruent and, like squares, the diagonals bisect each other at 90 degrees.

What is the difference between a square and a rhombus? square and a rhombus/Tabular form

Square Diamond
The diagonal lengths of a square are the same measure. The diagonal lengths of a rhombus are of different measure.
All interior angles of the square measure 90 degrees (that is, right angle) In a rhombus, opposite angles have the same measure.

Similarities Between Squares and Rhombuses

A square is a quadrilateral. A rhombus is also a quadrilateral.
All the sides of a square are the same length. Similar to the square, all the sides of a rhombus are also the same length.
The opposite sides are parallel to each other. The opposite sides of a rhombus are also parallel to each other.
The diagonals are perpendicular to each other. Similar to that of a square, the diagonals of a rhombus are also perpendicular to each other.

Frequent questions square and a rhombus/Tabular form

How is the square different from the rhombus?

A square and a rhombus have sides of equal length. But the square has all its angles congruent to 90 degrees, but a rhombus only has its opposite angles congruent.

Are the diagonals of the rhombus the same?

The diagonals of the rhombus are not equal but intersect each other at 90 degrees. Also, the diagonals bisect the angles of the rhombus.

What is common between rhombus and square?

Both the rhombus and the square are quadrilaterals or polygons that have four sides. They both have all their sides congruent (equal) in length.

Is the rhombus a parallelogram?

A rhombus is a kind of parallelogram, whose opposite sides are parallel and also the length of the four sides is equal.
