Difference Between Humidifier And Dehumidifier

A humidifier is not the same as a dehumidifier. In fact, they are completely different gadgets. A correct choice will significantly improve the quality of our home . In addition, these devices protect our health and possible material damage to our home derived from humidity problems. In this article we explain all their differences so that you can choose the one that suits you best according to your needs. Difference Between Humidifier And Dehumidifier

Humidifiers vs Dehumidifiers. Main differences

The main difference between these two types of products is that their objectives are totally opposite. The humidifier raises the humidity level in the room. Instead, the dehumidifier reduces humidity .

Therefore, if the environment looks dry, or you are suffering from some discomfort due to dryness, you must install a humidifier. But if you notice an excess of humidity in the environment, or there are discomforts due to mold or pollen, a dehumidifier is necessary.

What is a humidifier? Difference Between Humidifier And Dehumidifier

The humidifier is a simple appliance whose function is to increase the humidity of the environment in order to improve the atmosphere of the room. Little is heard of this product, until pediatricians recommend it; and it is that it is of great help for health care, and especially that of children.

Humidifiers adapt the environment, so that in this way the environment we breathe is less aggressive for the respiratory tract. This device regulates the humidity and temperature values, thus creating an environment conducive to health, since it reduces the possibility of the proliferation of microorganisms that cause respiratory infections.

It should also be mentioned that humidifiers prevent the air from being very dry, avoiding irritations to the warranty and to the skin.

It should be mentioned that there are two types of humidifiers: cold mist humidifier and hot mist humidifier.

This product consists of a container of water that, through different systems, evaporates and becomes part of the environment in which the humidifier is located.

Humidifiers are in most cases small equipment, approximately 30 × 30 cm in size. This size makes them very comfortable to transport.

On the other hand, humidifiers have a water tank between 1 and 6 liters, depending on the model, and an autonomy of 8 hours, although it should be mentioned that this depends on their size.

Regarding energy consumption, it is approximately 35w.

What is a dehumidifier?

A dehumidifier is a device whose function is to lower the humidity level in the environment.

Just as a dry environment is not convenient, excess humidity does not favor the environment at all. On the contrary, high humidity opens the possibility for microorganisms to appear, and, therefore, there would be a risk of contracting infections.

To solve this, there are dehumidifiers, which perform the opposite function of the humidifier.

There are two types of dehumidifiers according to their operation, these are: Refrigerant dehumidifier (With compressor), and desiccant dehumidifier (silica gel).

Among the main characteristics of dehumidifiers, it is necessary to highlight their operation, which is given thanks to a heat pump, which provides a cold area where moisture condenses, and a hot area to recover the ambient temperature.

Now, there are industrial humidifiers and those focused on the home. In this article we will focus on the characteristics of those who are focused on home use.

For every 24 hours of operation, the extractor capacity varies between 5 and 35 liters (depending on the model).

These products have a sensor that indicates when the unit is already full, and in this state it stops to avoid water leaks.

Finally, it should be noted that dehumidifiers do not have to be installed.
