Besides their origins, there are other elements that make these martial arts different. If you want to know a little more about it, keep reading because below we explain the difference between kung fu and karate.
KARATE
In karate he concentrates mainly on the art of giving good blows and kicks , thrusts, blows with the elbows and knees and techniques with open hands are also used.
The movements are usually linear and various blocking techniques are used.
As far as the wardrobe is concerned, those who practice this martial art generally wear the uniform known as Gi or Karateka. They wear bare feet and a belt (obi) whose color depends on the level of the person’s abilities; For example, beginners often wear a white belt, while more experienced ones wear a black belt.
The Gi is normally white and loose (to maximize speed of movement).
KUNG FU
On the other hand, in kung Fu the movements are usually circular and fluid and mimic the fighting styles of animals. You start with one or five basic standing positions
Normally the foot is kept in an upright posture and the positions are mainly divided into four, known as: dragon, frog, horse and snake.
As for the uniform, in the case of kung Fu it can vary a lot in color, style and material; but most tend to have a Chinese-style button-up top. Also, most of these uniforms are made of satin in a wide variety of bright and vibrant colors. Also, unlike karate, when practicing kung Fu it is common for shoes to be worn with the uniform.
Finally, in karate the coach is called sensei , while in kung Fu he is called si Fu.
