KEY DIFFERENCE

As you can see, Outlook is very different from Hotmail. Outlook is Microsoft’s email program, while Hotmail, now called Outlook.com, is an online email service.

Basically, Outlook is the application that allows you to browse your Hotmail or Outlook.com email account.

Here are the differences between them based on a few factors:

PLATFORM  Difference between Outlook and Hotmail

Outlook is an email available for Windows and Mac operating systems, while Hotmail or Outlook.com is an online email service that can be accessed from any device with any Outlook web browser or mobile application.

APPEARANCE

New versions of Outlook are designed in such a way that they look cleaner than previous versions.

Outlook.com or Hotmail has been greatly improved over previous versions. The Outlook.com email account ends in @ outlook.com or @ hotmail.com

Hotmail no longer provides email addresses with the ending @ hotmail.com, but existing @ hotmail.com email addresses may still work.

ORGANIZATION

Hotmail or Outlook.com offer several options for keeping your inbox organized. All emails are sorted by folders. These folders are very easy to access and manipulate. You can also drag and drop emails into and between folders to keep track of them. There are also other categories that you can assign to posts and these categories appear in the sidebar.

Outlook, on the other hand, is like any other Microsoft service that provides options to create a new email, open any file, save a file, search for files, different types of fonts for writing a file, and many other features.

STORAGE

Outlook provides 1Tb of storage up front. That is a very large storage and you will never run out of storage, you will not even have little space. If you ever run out of storage, you can also upgrade your storage and that’s free of charge too.

SECURITY

Both have identical security features that include multi-factor authentication, advanced email and file encryption, Visio document rights management, and special management capabilities that allow sensitive information to be detected. To make information transactions more secure, links to attachments can be sent instead of the attachments themselves.

EMAIL REQUIREMENT

To use Outlook you must have an email address. On the other hand, it provides you with an email address.

So from all the aforementioned information, it is concluded that Outlook is an email program, while Outlook.com, which was previously known as Hotmail, is an online email service.
