Both cakes and muffins are foods that we prepare in the oven and are liked by a large number of people, regardless of age. But despite being such well-known foods, there are certain similarities between the two that make some confuse them. Difference Between Sponge Cake and Muffin

MUFFIN  Difference Between Sponge Cake and Muffin

As far as the shape is concerned, the muffins resemble cupcakes or muffins; but unlike these and the biscuits, the rolls are less sweet and have the same texture as a bread.

Generally, people eat muffins for breakfast and they are traditionally made from berries, nuts, and fruits. Regular muffins do not contain yeast, but those made in England usually do.

Another distinguishing feature is that the muffins do not have custard or decorations on top and usually come in individual sizes.

SPONGE CAKE

On the other hand, in addition to being much sweeter and covered with cream on top; cupcakes tend to be larger than muffins, meaning they don’t come in individual sizes.

It is rarely served sponge cake in the mornings (something that is common in the case of muffins). The sponge cake is usually served as a dessert, at the end of the meal.

Finally, the portions of the ingredients used to make cakes is greater than in the case of rolls.
