Example: vendors, cashiers, vehicle drivers …
An occupation does not necessarily require schooling or completion of a college degree. Depending on its type, it can fall into one of the following three categories:
- Business: when the person is involved in commercial matters, manufacturing …
- Employee: occupations in which the person works for others and in return earns regular income .
- Profession: when the person provides their services applying their skills and knowledge acquired through training or education.
PROFESSION
On the other hand, as it was possible to understand after reading the last point, the concept “occupation” encompasses that of “profession”; therefore, it is more general. In this way, it is understood that whenever a profession is exercised, one has an occupation, but not everyone who has an occupation is a professional.
Examples: Lawyers, doctors , teachers.
Finally, to be considered a professional it is necessary that the person has done some specialty or training in the area that corresponds to him. Likewise, professionals must be governed by a professional body or statute; since in case of not following the pertinent ethical codes, your right to practice the profession may be revoked.
